Saw this incredibly well made Star Wars: A New Hope Lego^® chess set on makezine.com during the weekend.

Lego fan Brandon Griffith from Hollywood California created this fantastic chess set out of Lego elements. In his own words:

Since 1999, Lego^® has released over 100 different Star Wars Mini figures. To give Star Wars Lego^® justice, I decided to build three different Chess sets, one for each original episode. This is the first of the series. Star Wars: A New Hope Lego^® Chess.

My goals with the individual chess pieces is to:
1. Is durable enough to play the game with.
2. Present a piece that closely represents a scene form the movie. My favorites are "Obi-wan and the tractor beam" & "Greedo"

The chess board:
1. Built strong enough to carry with out breaking
2. The playing area easily removes from the rest of the board to reveal compartments to store the pieces.
3. The detailing on the side on the board utilizes a lot of SNOT (Studs Not On Tops) techniques. This a technique that came out of the Adult Lego community.

Other Facts:
1. The chess board is built on a base of layered Lego^® plates.
2. Weighs 25lbs.
3. the Minifigs were the most expensive part on the chess set.

Wow! That is the best Lego^® SW chess I've seen so far. Very creative use of all the characters and bricks. Now, if only Lego^® Co would make something like this

Ah, I see icgetaway...thanks for the detailed response and info... it makes sense now! I'll eagerly await your Episode V & VI chess sets... you are a true master builder in my books! I hope that the LEGO^® company will one day release a set as nice as yours (I know I'll be first in line to purchase one!)

I think the above comments help to explain of what we do here at LEGO^® CUUSOO. There are so many LEGO^® fans out there, building incredible LEGO^® sets which in turn other LEGO^® fans want! The internet helps bring these fans together to show off what they had built, and the fans who want that product... but there is a missing link between that and making it to Lego^®'s production line. That's where LEGO^® CUUSOO comes in! Post your ideas or designs on LEGO^® CUUSOO, get people who wants your creation to come and "Wish" for it. When enough "Wishes" are gathered, LEGO^® will make it into a real product!

While we're talking about Star Wars Lego^®, how can I leave out our Star Wars Mini Figure Sets from one Mr. (or Ms. )"レゴ_®マニア (Lego^® mania)".
